WHAT’S THE TERRAIN LIKE THIS YEAR?
We have rolling hills at GTR 2024. There are one or two “aerobic challenges”. Don’t worry–you can handle them.
WHY DO YOU HAVE A RIDER LIMIT?
We limit the size of the rally so that it will be more intimate and personal. Our facilities will only hold so many people. And our sanity gets tested if we make the rally too big.
ARE THERE REST STOPS ON THE ROUTES?
We usually have store stops located at strategic places on the routes. We also give out snacks before each ride begins. If you are a paleo, gluten-free vegan, you should probably bring your own snacks.
DO ANY OF THE CAPTAINS SHAVE THEIR LEGS?
There are some captains who are rumored to have carbon fiber razors. However, the great thing about tandem rallies is that you will always find someone your speed to ride with. And stokers who don’t shave their legs.
DO YOU HAVE GPS FOR YOUR ROUTES?
GTR was one of the first rallies to offer GPS maps, way back in the early 2000’s. About 10 days before the rally, you will get all of the routes on Ride With GPS.
WHAT DO I DO IF MY BIKE BREAKS DOWN?
For the last eight years, we have been fortunate to have the services of “The Tandem Whisperer”, Ric Becker from the House of Tandems, at GTR. If Ric can’t fix it, you probably need a new bike.
WHAT’S THE WEATHER IN GEORGIA IN MAY?
Plan on hot weather and be pleased if it’s not. Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration and cramps. Expect highs in the upper 80’s and lows in the mid-60’s. We try to start rides at 8:30AM to beat the heat.
CAN I REGISTER AS A SINGLE BIKE?
It’s a tandem rally. If one of you gets injured and the other has to ride a single, that’s fine, but otherwise, single bikes are not welcome at a tandem rally. You’ve got your own rides!
WHO DOES EVE’S NAILS?
Eve’s nails are 100% owner maintained. Our guess is that they will match her handlebar tape or the colors of the rally.
IF A TRAIN LEAVES THE STATION AND TRAVELS AT 50 MPH, HOW MANY MILES WILL IT GO IN 2 HOURS?
